Youth Programs (9-15)
Designed for youth aged 9-15, our youth program introduces youth to basic foil fencing skills using real equipment. Youth start in our one-month long Youth Beginner class, learning the basics of how to move in the fencing position along with simple bladework taught in a games-based format. All equipment for this class is provided.
After completing the one-month long beginner course, youth graduate into our Youth Intermediate class. Within this class, fencers further refine their footwork and bladework, beginning to apply their learning in bouting. Typically, fencers remain at this level for three to eight months as they begin to develop mastery of both the technical and tactical aspects of the sport. A $100 deposit is required for fencers to sign out equipment. Fencers are expected to gradually purchase their own equipment, starting in their third month of training. When the fencer is ready to move to the next level, the course instructor will speak to the fencer and the parents.
After graduation from the Intermediate program, fencers can choose to move into our Advanced program. Students will continue to refine and improve their technical and tactical skills, their fitness, and their confidence in a program with a more recreational focus. Students are required to have their own equipment.
The Academy Training Program based out of Montgomery Center provides fencers with the opportunity to train up to five days per week in foil or epee alongside our top athletes competing on the national circuit. Whether fencers are looking to compete internationally, or simply looking to become the best that they can be, the coaches in the Academy Training Program are thrilled to help fencers achieve their goals.
Through the Academy Training Program, fencers may elect to sign up for private lessons with their coach of choice. These private lessons offer an individualized fencing experience, allowing coaches to work more closely with a student, and are essential for competitive success within the sport. If you are interested in signing up for the Academy Training Program, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page and we will reach out.
